How to network with intention, not just attendance

The Ribbons Network · 26 June 2026 · 6 min read

Plenty of people attend networking events. Far fewer network with intention. The difference is where the real results come from.

Know what a good connection looks like

Before you go, get clear on who you’re genuinely trying to meet and how you can help them. Networking with purpose starts with clarity, not luck.

Give before you ask

The most respected people in any network are the ones who give freely: introductions, advice, encouragement. Referrals come from trust, and trust is built by being generous first.

Track your relationships

Keep a simple note of who you’ve met and how you’ve followed up. Relationships need tending, and a little structure turns scattered conversations into a real support network.

Let the structure help you

Our coaching-led format is designed to make intentional networking the default, with guided activity, accountability and a strategy session to keep you moving forward.
